1. Things to do in Korea – Volunteering at Angel house
Is there any special things I can do in Seoul? : Volunteering!
There are so many words that come to mind when you think of Korea.
K-POP, K-FOOD, countries where the sun doesn’t set, night culture, Seoul, Busan, Jeju, etc
Korea has a clear 4 seasons, and each region has distinct characteristics, so there are so many things to see, eat, and see.
My foreign friends go around the country many times than me and enjoy Korean culture.
I have a lot of foreign friends around me, and they used to ask me sometimes.
“Is there any special things I can do in Seoul?”
This question is often heard by both friends who have just come to Korea and old friends.
Usually, I answer according to their tendencies,
Volunteering at Angel house
but For Newbies, I always recommended that ‘volunteering at Angel house’.
Strictly speaking, it is an angel house in Gyeonggi-do, not Seoul.
An angel house is an hour and a half away from Seoul by subway and bus
It is a facility for the disabled.
I’ve been volunteering here for over 10 years (though of course I don’t always go there)
I go to volunteer every first and third Saturday.
Foreign friends as well as Koreans work together, and most of the organizers speak English proficiently.
Of course, the residents living in the Angel House do not speak English,
but language has never been a problem to do volunteering

-What do we do at Angel House?
1. Gathering in front of Exit 6 of Samsong Station on Subway Line 6 at 1:30 p.m.
2. you take bus number 55 together and go for about 20 minutes, you will arrive at the angel house.
3. Gather in the kitchen to say hello, explain what to do for the day, and share roles.
– Preparing dinner, vacuuming, cleaning floors, cleaning toilets, shaving male residents,
applying nail polish to residents, washing dishes. The above activities will take place from 2:30 to 4:30 pm
4. We serve food made by the kitchen team. We serve the food to our family first, and the dish-washing team eats first.
5. After eating, the dish-washing team proceeds to do the dishes and the rest of the volunteers do the recreation with their family members. (It changes every week, colorings, making, games, etc.)
6. After the recreation is over, snacks are distributed to family members and group photos are taken with family members and volunteers.
7. Let’s go to Seoul together after hearing the closing speech
8. After party
I still remember the day before I went to the angel’s house for the first time.
I was a little scared and nervous because I didn’t know any people,
and I had a few experiences of volunteering for the disabled before that.
But the moment you get off the bus and go into the angel house, not to mention the organizers
I can’t forget the appearance of the family members welcoming me with open arms and saying, “Hello.”
In 2013, we only visited once a month,
I remember looking forward to the day of the month when I went to volunteer.
It gave me energy when I got back and met good friends
If you want to make Korean friends, no, if you want to make friends in Korea,
If you want to share your precious time with good people, please visit the angel house.
Some people think I go to volunteer and give them something,
In fact, you will feel that I am receiving more love from my family and learning many things from good people.
See you there 🙂
